Dr. Harry Briggs is more widely known as "The Paddlin' Professor," who swims to help raise money to help fund the NSU Women's Tennis Team. Briggs makes his swim over a two-mile course across Shreveport's Cross Lake.
This is the third year that Tom Pace ("Talk of the Town" radio talk-show show and executive editor of his www.ShreveTalk.com news site) has interviewed Dr. Briggs. This year, Harry seemed more determined than ever to reach his "BIG ONE" - making the 2-mile swim next year on his 90th Birthday (May 20, 2011).
Briggs' annual swim, affectionately know as the "Ten For Two" is to honor the love of his life, his late wife Lydia, as a fundraiser for Northwestern State University Tennis Teams "The Lydia Briggs Tennis Scholarship" and the "Harry Briggs Support Fund."
